Abstract:
The incidence of cardiovascular disease and cancer continues to increase worldwide. Healthcare providers are facing significant challenges due to the increase of such incidence as well as aging population, staff workload, and need for leveraging big medical data for better health care delivery.
On the other hand, machine learning and information technology have made progress significantly to aid early diagnosis and address some of the healthcare-related challenges. However, still, the technical solutions lack in accuracy and reproducibility.
We are developing mobile-based health monitoring applications with clinical decision support features by taking the advantage of cloud-based computing and big data storage. Data analysis is carried out to detect the underlying signs and symptoms and identify significant changes to the monitoring signs. It is aimed to provide useful clinical decision support functionality in real-time. Integration of mobile-based health monitoring applications into the electronic health records can be achieved and make information available all time and everywhere to support clinicians as well as patients in making better decisions.
This talk will explore a couple of our current research and development approaches comprising vital signs monitoring and skin cancer detection for applications related to smarter healthcare.
