报告人简介：

He (Henry) Chen received the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Sydney, Sydney, Australia, in 2015. He is currently a Research Fellow at the School of Electrical and Information Engineering, University of Sydney. His current research interests are in the field of industrial Internet of Things, with a particular focus on ultra-reliable low latency wireless, real-time industrial Ethernet, lightweight authentication and encryption, and network anomaly detection. He received the Outstanding Bachelor Thesis of Shandong University, the Outstanding Master Thesis of Shandong Province, the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Students Abroad, and a best paper award from IEEE WCNC2018.

报告内容摘要：

The Internet has reshaped our world. The coming digital revolution is the industrial internet, also known as industrial internet of things (IIoT), which has the potential to bring huge benefits to industry – predicted to be greater than those of the Internet itself. These benefits will include increased efficiency, productivity, safety, and reliability, and many new products, services, and business opportunities. As defined by the industrial giant GE, the IIoT refers to “the network of a multitude of industrial devices connected by communications technologies that results in systems that can monitor, collect, exchange, analyse, and deliver valuable new insights like never before". This definition clearly points out that communication technologies will play a crucial role in the IIoT. In this talk, I will try to answer the following questions: what are the differences between industrial and conventional networks? Why to use industrial wireless? What are the main challenges facing by industrial wireless? Will 5G be a solution? I will also give a summary of our solutions to tackle the challenges in industrial wireless.
